Commercial Floors for Germantown Avenue
Epoxy floor systems for Chestnut Hill shops, cafes, galleries and salons. Built for old buildings, installed on your off-hours, finished so the front of the room looks like you meant it.
A shop floor here is an old floor.
Most of the commercial space along Germantown Avenue sits on concrete that was poured before anybody thought about coatings. It has been cut for plumbing, patched twice, worn into a dip where the register used to stand, and it slopes toward a drain that may or may not still work. That is the honest starting point for a Chestnut Hill storefront, and it is why we walk a space before we say anything about what it will take.
Tru Coat Epoxy and Painting handles the whole thing as one job: read the slab, grind it back to something a coating can actually grab, fill and float the low spots, then build the floor the room needs. A gallery that wants a quiet, even surface under track lighting gets a different spec than a salon with color bowls and foot traffic six days a week. We do not run one system through a building and call it commercial.
The other thing about a century-old building is what sits under it. A lot of these basements are prep space, dry storage, or a mop sink and a water heater, and the slab down there pulls moisture in a way a newer pour does not. We test for it before anything gets mixed. Coating over a slab that is still pushing vapor is how a floor peels in sheets a year later, and on a small commercial job that failure costs far more in closed days than the test ever would.
A poured marbled system in a retail buildout, protective paper still down while the topcoat sets.
Your doors stay open.
For a neighborhood business the coating is rarely the expensive part. The expensive part is a Saturday you did not trade.
We walk it and write it
One visit, on the clock you keep. We look at the slab, the entry, the wet areas, the back rooms, and how your day actually moves through the space. You get a written quote with the prep spelled out, not a per-foot number with an asterisk.
We pick the hours around you
Nights after close, a Sunday into Monday, or the slow stretch in January. Small shops usually close for a day or not at all. Cafes with a morning rush get an overnight and a fast-cure topcoat so the espresso machine is running again on schedule.
We phase the room if we have to
Half the floor at a time, taped off clean, so the counter stays open while the other half cures. It adds a day and it saves a week of lost sales, which is the trade most owners on the Avenue take without thinking twice.
We keep the dust in our half
HEPA-shrouded grinders and real containment. In a shared party-wall building your neighbor’s stock and your own shelves stay clean, and nobody upstairs gets a reason to call the landlord.
We give you a reopen time and hold it
Before the first machine comes off the van you know the hour you can put furniture back and the hour you can unlock the door. If something in the slab changes that, you hear it that day, not at the end.

Front of house and back of house, one visit.
The room your customers stand in and the room your staff works in want opposite things, and the mistake is picking one floor for both. We spec them separately and install them in the same trip, so the finish out front carries the look and the surface in back takes the abuse.
Retail and gallery
A calm, even surface that photographs well and does not compete with what is on the walls or the racks. Light matters more than pattern in a room where the merchandise is the point.
Cafe and counter service
Grip at the entry where wet shoes land, seamless under the espresso station, and a coved edge at the wall so spills have nowhere to hide. Cures fast enough to run a normal morning.
Salon and studio
Color and product rinse off a resin floor instead of staining a vinyl seam. Chair bases roll without gouging, and the mop-and-go routine replaces a wax schedule nobody had time for.
Prep rooms and basements
Heavier build, aggressive texture, cove base up the wall. This is where the slab is worst and where the health inspector looks first, so it gets the thickest spec in the building.
A troweled metallic in charcoal. The same system reads well in a gallery or a showroom where the floor should be quiet.
Grip up front, easy cleaning after close.
Two things decide whether a commercial floor was the right call, and neither of them is the color. The first is what happens when somebody walks in off a wet sidewalk in February. We set the texture for the room, grittier at the entry mat line, smoother in the middle where carts and chairs move, so the floor has traction you can feel without becoming something that grabs dirt.
The second is closing routine. A resin floor has no grout to scrub, no wax to strip, and no seams to catch grease at the wall. A dust mop and a damp mop with neutral cleaner is the whole program. For a five-person shop that is a real hour back every week, and it is usually the reason an owner calls us for the second location.
If you want to see how the finishes read in person before deciding, our gallery has the same systems in finished rooms, and the metallic epoxy work we do in Chestnut Hill shows what the poured look does under real light.
