Professional Patio Concrete Coatings

Your patio is an extension of your living space — it deserves the same attention to detail as the floors inside your home. Tru Coat Epoxy and Painting installs UV-stable, slip-resistant patio coatings that protect your concrete from Pennsylvania weather while creating an outdoor surface that impresses guests and stands up to years of foot traffic, furniture, grills, and the elements.

About Patio Coatings

Patio concrete coatings face unique challenges that indoor floors never encounter: UV exposure, rain, snow, freeze-thaw cycles, and extreme temperature swings. Standard indoor epoxy will yellow and degrade under direct sunlight within months. That is why we use UV-stable polyaspartic and polyurea coating systems specifically formulated for outdoor application. These coatings resist UV degradation, temperature extremes, moisture penetration, and chemical exposure from grills, fertilizers, and pool chemicals. We offer decorative flake systems that provide excellent traction when wet, solid color coatings in any shade to match your outdoor design, and textured finishes that keep your patio safe and beautiful in all weather conditions. Our 12 years of artistic training means your patio coating will be designed, not just applied.

We are Don Resin Class Certified and Microcement Certified — two credentials that reflect our commitment to mastering the most demanding coating systems available. Based in Broomall, PA, we serve the entire greater Philadelphia area within a 150-mile radius, bringing premium craftsmanship to every project in Delaware County, Montgomery County, Bucks County, and Philadelphia County.

Our Process

Patio coating starts with thorough surface preparation — we diamond grind the concrete, repair cracks and expansion joints, and clean the surface completely. We apply a primer designed for outdoor concrete adhesion, followed by the decorative base coat and broadcast material. UV-stable topcoats seal the system and provide long-term weather resistance. Most patio projects complete in 2 to 3 days, weather permitting.

Every project begins with a free consultation. Call (445) 444-2879 or visit our contact page to schedule yours. We serve the entire greater Philadelphia area including communities like Wayne, Haverford, Villanova, Doylestown, and Philadelphia.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of coating works best for outdoor patios?
Polyaspartic and polyurea coatings are the best choice for outdoor patios because they are UV-stable, meaning they will not yellow or degrade under direct sunlight. Standard epoxy is not recommended for outdoor use. Our polyaspartic systems cure quickly, resist temperature extremes, and maintain their color and gloss for years. We also add slip-resistant aggregate to maintain traction when the surface is wet.
Will patio coatings crack in cold weather?
Our outdoor coating systems are formulated to remain flexible through freeze-thaw cycles. We also properly address expansion joints in the concrete before coating, which is critical for preventing cracks. While no coating can prevent the concrete itself from cracking (that is a substrate issue), our coatings flex with minor substrate movement without delaminating.
How long do patio coatings last outdoors?
Our UV-stable patio coatings last 10 to 15 years with proper care. This includes exposure to direct sunlight, rain, snow, and temperature extremes. Recoating is straightforward when the time comes — the existing coating provides an excellent base for a fresh topcoat application.
Can you coat a stained or damaged patio?
Yes. Diamond grinding removes surface stains, old sealers, and minor damage. We repair cracks and divots before coating. Severely damaged concrete may need patching compound before the coating system can be applied. We evaluate every patio during the free consultation and provide honest guidance on what is needed.
Do I need to cover my patio furniture during installation?
All furniture, grills, planters, and decorative items need to be removed from the patio before we begin. We need clear access to the entire surface for grinding and coating. Most homeowners move items to the yard or garage during the 2 to 3 day installation process.
